Last chance to visit the KKNK virtual gallery

Art lovers have just one week left to visit the KKNK’s very first Virtual Art Gallery. This gallery is open until Wednesday, 19 August.

“This initiative is an important platform for visual artists to sell their works, which were created for this year’s KKNK, and thereby generate an income. The gallery has had 34,500 visitors to date, and we look forward to welcoming even more visitors over the following week.”

These are the words of Hugo Theart, Artistic Director of the KKNK. According to Theart, this multimedia experience makes the splendour of 11 exhibitions, that would have been showcased at the KKNK this year, available to all art lovers to enjoy in the comfort of their own homes. “The offer consists of more than 200 works of art, created by 45 artists”, he adds.

“Feedback from visitors to the gallery is incredibly positive with several compliments for how easy the gallery is to use. Visitors are also full of praise for the variety of techniques and works that can be seen”, Theart concludes.

Among the favourite exhibitions are Maryna Cotton and Sarel van Staden’s Karoo Stories, an exhibition of the Karoo, moon, and stars. This collection explores and illuminates the often-timid shapes, textures, and stories of the ancient Karoo landscape.

Works by three young Oudtshoorn artists, Colin Meyer, Zietske Saaiman and Earlyn Cloud, are presented by the Absa Gallery and a big highlight of this year’s offering is the retrospective exhibition by festival artist, Barbara Wildenboer.
