Die verhoog is slaggereed om aan jou verbeelding, unieke stories, intriges, kinkels en onvergeetlike karakters vlerke te gee by die agtste Teksmarkon Woensdag 30 Augustus tot Vrydag 1 September 2023 in die Baxter-teatersentrum in Kaapstad aangebied word.
Whether you’re a seasoned wordsmith or a budding playwright, this call for proposals is your chance to breathe life into scripts that have yet to grace the stage, allowing your ideas to flourish in the limelight.
Teks-idees word in alle genres verwelkom, met spesiale fokus op komedie, satire en kinderteater. Ons omarm die krag daarvan om lekker te lag, die impak van sosiale kommentaar en die verwondering en bekoring van jongmense se gedagtes.
Om jou teks-idee voor te stel benodig jy ’n tema, storielyn, kort beskrywing van die karakters en ten minste vyf bladsye se dialoog. Die voorgestelde teks moet lank genoeg wees vir ’n optrede van ten minste tien minute. Volledige tekste word ook verwelkom, maar is nie ’n vereiste nie.
Die sluitingsdatum vir voorstelle is Maandag 3 Julie 2023 om middernag.
Sedert die ontstaan van Teksmark in 2016, is 125 tekste ingesluit as deel van dié inisiatief, met 36 teks-idees wat in volskaalse produksies ontwikkel is, waarvan verskeie bekroon is met ’n rits toekennings en pryse.
The Teksmark process from start to finish
- Stuur jou teks-idees teen Maandag 3 Julie om middernag per e-pos na Daventia Kennedy by daventia@kunste.org.za.
- Alle tekste word deur ’n onafhanklike paneel geëvalueer, waarna verskeie tekste gekies word om by Teksmark in Kaapstad voorgelê te word.
- Directors and actors are appointed, in conjunction with the playwright and organisers, to perform an excerpt (10 minutes) from the script as play readings to representatives of theatres, festivals, producers, other possible investors and theatre enthusiasts.
- Playwrights will have an opportunity to discuss their script idea and the audience will engage with questions and comments.
- The market is open for anyone interested to negotiate with playwrights about possibly investing in their script for further development.

Criteria to submit a Teksmark script
- A script idea, themes, storyline, short description of the characters and at least five pages of dialogue must be submitted. Complete scripts are welcome, but not a prerequisite. The proposed script must include text long enough for a performance of at least 10 minutes.
- Slegs Suid-Afrikaanse burgers kan voorstelle indien.
- Teks-idees in alle genres word oorweeg, maar komedie, satire en teatertekste vir jeug en kinders word aangemoedig.
- Tekste in alle amptelike Suid-Afrikaanse tale word oorweeg.
- Veeltalige tekste word aangemoedig.
- Only scripts that have not been performed professionally in the past will be considered.
- All proposals must be submitted in full, with all the necessary documentation.
- No late proposals will be accepted, and the closing date will not be extended.
- No handwritten proposals will be considered – it must be submitted in Word or .pdf format.
